How To Use TextEdit To Make A Web Page

TextEdit is a very good and simple text editor for the Mac. However, you’ll
need to make a few changes in your Preference settings before you can start
to make web pages. Without these changes, TextEdit will generate Rich Text
Format documents which you definitely do not want.

As this video will show you, after you make the adjustments to your Preferences,
you’ll need to close and quit the TextEdit application. Now, whenever you open
TextEdit, it will be ready to create web pages.

      • Hi Bud, I noticed that you didn’t mention anything about unchecking “smart quotes”. My MAC students keep sending me files that are loaded with smart quotes. Have you considered adding this to your tutorial? Also, may I direct students to your site within my lesson?

        • Good point! Smart quotes will cause problems. When using TextEdit one needs to make sure that the Smart Quotes checkbox is not checked.

Sure, by all means refer your students here.

  1. I’m really impressed with your writing talents and also with the structure in your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Either way stay up the nice high quality writing, it is rare to look a great blog like this one these days..
